The Challenge

Like many retailers, Aritzia’s large SFCC-focused team was caught in a cycle where day-to-day operational demands left no bandwidth to tackle major architectural change. The leadership team wanted to:

  • Build in-house composable skills and confidence
  • Prove the potential of a modern architecture before committing to a full rebuild
  • Implement a flexible CMS and search solution as part of the foundation for innovation

The 64Labs Solution

64Labs partnered with Aritzia to co-build a composable storefront on Salesforce Commerce Cloud, powered by:

  • Contentful as the headless CMS
  • Algolia for high-performance search

Key steps included:

  • Building the initial site alongside core Aritzia team members to ensure knowledge transfer
  • Demonstrating the production potential of composable within a live environment
  • Expanding scope to include orchestration layers and API infrastructures as a secondary project, enabling future innovation beyond the website itself

Results

  • Internal team capability significantly increased
  • Technical foundation laid for scalable, long-term composable strategy
  • Future projects now seen as feasible and operationally achievable
  • Search and CMS systems ready to support richer, faster, and more personalized experiences

Why It Matters for eCommerce Leaders

Aritzia’s experience shows that composable adoption doesn’t have to be a “big bang” rebuild. By building skills in parallel with delivery and starting with a targeted, achievable project, brands can break free from maintenance mode, prove ROI, and set the stage for continuous innovation.
